I drove the Trail Ridge Road today. Its the highest road in the US at over 12,000 ft. I did the first 20 miles to the Alpine Visitor Center and then retraced my route. All I can say is that it is spectacular. I happened to have a good day on which the road was opened (it gets closed for any bad weather, which happens a lot). Temps were low 50’s at the high elevations and 70’s down at 8,100 ft.
I’ve done scenic roads before, like in Glacier National Park and the Skyline Drive, but this was by far the best. You’re literally driving on top of the Rocky Mountains. I took some video while driving up. Here are some of the pictures that I took.

Where was the last photo taken? I am looking for a place to propose to my gf of 10 years somewhere like that. Thank you
Jesse;
Its on the Trail Ridge Road in RMNP. As you drive west from the Estes Park side to the Alpine Visitor Center, its either at the Many Parks Curve (which I think is) or the Rainbow Curve. Look at the NPS map of the park to see where these turnouts are. Its before you get above the tree line. I drove it on June 3rd about 2-3 days after it opened up. Good luck with the proposal!
