This is a travel blog website run by one individual.  We post stories and videos about our RV travels and sometimes info about RV’s and travel related items.  Our website address is: https://jdawgjourneys.com.

What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It

Comments

When visitors leave comments on our site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.  This data includes the commenter’s name, email address, and site URL (if provided via the comment form), timestamp, and IP address. Additionally, a jetpack.wordpress.com IFrame receives the following data: WordPress.com blog ID attached to the site, ID of the post on which the comment is being submitted, commenter’s local user ID (if available), commenter’s local username (if available), commenter’s site URL (if available), MD5 hash of the commenter’s email address (if available), and the comment content.

If you use a Gravatar service, an anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to that service. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.

Cookies

Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow) that enable the site’s or service provider’s systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information.

If you leave a comment on our site, the comment author’s name, email address, and site URL (if provided during the comment submission) are stored in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

You can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can choose to turn off all cookies and delete any previously-set cookies. This is managed through your browser settings. Each browser is a little different, so look at your browser’s Help menu to learn the correct way to modify your cookies.

Subscriptions

To set up and process subscriptions, we use the subscriber’s email address, as well as the ID of the post or comment (depending on the specific subscription being processed). In the event of a new subscription being initiated, we also collect some basic server data, including all of the subscribing user’s HTTP request headers, the IP address from which the subscribing user is viewing the page, and the URI which was given in order to access the page. This server data is used for the exclusive purpose of monitoring and preventing abuse and spam.  Your email address is only used to send you a notice when we publish a new blog article.

Functionality cookies are set for a duration of 347 days to remember a visitor’s blog and post subscription choices if, in fact, they have an active subscription.

You may manage or opt out of existing subscriptions by clicking on the subscription tools at the bottom of any subscription e-mail. There are links to “unsubscribe” as well as links to change your e-mail settings under “manage subscriptions”You may also clear all functionality cookies through your browser settings. Each browser is a little different, so look at your browser’s Help menu to learn the correct way to modify your cookies.

Embedded content from other websites

Pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. YouTube videos, images, articles, ads etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics & Website Services

This website makes use of services that collect data for analytics and security purposes.  These services include Bluehost (hosting), WordPress.com (statistics), Wordfence (security), Jetpack (statistics, spam filtering), and Google Analytics (statistics). Who We Share Your Data With

We do not sell, trade, transfer, or otherwise make available to outside parties any of your personally identifiable information. The website service providers that we use such as Bluehost, WordPress.com, Wordfence, Jetpack, and Google may share non-personal server data with third party vendors.  These service providers use of the data they collect is dictated by their respective privacy policies.

How Long We Retain Your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.  Subscription data is held until a user unsubscribes from the website.
