I recently had the odometer in my RV turn over to 100,000 miles. I bought it new in 2014 so all those miles are mine. Seeing that number caused me to pause and reflect – to take a quick look back.
It was my dream to retire early in my 50’s, buy an RV, and travel across the country. I’ve been doing that now for the the past 12 years – living my dream.
So, how has it been? In a word – great! There’s not much I would change. It might have been better if Hurricane Ian didn’t destroy my house in FMB but even that had some positive consequences.
While I was on the road recently I made a video to share my reflections. You can watch it below. It says it all.

Wow!wow! Jim,
What an incredible story! Thank you for sharing an inspiring story. For those of us who are still working and planning to retire later in life- we are missing out on a lot of opportunities to experience the beauty, history and wonders of Mother Earth. How majestic is the creation of our Maker! Thank you, Jim. Blessings to you, Anne and your son. I’m looking forward to enjoying your next project. Shalom.
Jim, congratulations.
What great memories you have over those 12 years and you shared them with us.
Thanks,
Steve Carfrae
Jim, Glad to hear that you are still trucking. I enjoy your postings.
Diane and I just got back from a two week trip to Copenhagen with a Baltic cruise.
I turned 80 in June and my kids threw me a great party. Paul Rossley and Ken Corbin were there with their wives.
Life gets back sometimes and I am now recovering from three weeks of gout.
All the best to you and Ann.
Don,
Nice to hear you’re doing well. Congratulations of becoming an octogenarian!
Jim
Excellent. Keep on truckin’.
Thank you J. Dawg. We have the exact same RV and year and love it as much as you do. We retired early with the hopes of doing what you’re doing. We are only 50,000 miles into it but we hope to do what you’re doing for another 50,000 more. We love your videos and we love your blog. Please keep them coming.
Thank you for the kind words.
