J. Dawg,

Thanks so much for your prompt response. I will take your advise and call AAA and have them change to 300 miles per day.

I am quite healthy and have just returned from 10 days of camping withing 150 miles and feel quite comfortable and really do so appreciate your wisdom and will adhere to your suggestions.

Thanks again so much, Alice

Alice;
Assuming you're healthy, your age and status don't matter for this trip. Just stay within your limits. Eat right and get plenty of rest each day. I would suggest a quick shakedown trip to make sure you're comfortable with how everything works in the new-to-you RV (e.g., dumping the tanks, all the appliances). Also, 500 miles per day is a lot of driving for anyone. You can do that for a day or 2 but if you keep up that pace, you'll be exhausted and mentally spent. If there's no time constraints, then I would suggest 300 miles per day, which is 5-6 hrs per day. Take a rest break every 60-90 minutes to pull over and take a short stretch break. Reduce your miles/day if you need a break or just take a day off from driving. Document and give your itinerary to someone and have someone to check in with each day - a relative or friend to send a txt message to to let them know where you are each day. And most of all, enjoy each moment of your adventure. Don't be in a hurry. Stop and smell the roses and marvel at everything you see and every new person that you meet.

J. Dawg,

I am new to this motor home and have a 2015 View, purchased last month. I leave on Friday August,11th for CA and OR to spend a month with my grandson/son camping and am considering taking the trip back beginning September 6th that you just discussed through South Dakota, Montana, etc. down to Little Rock AR (home).

 I wondered if you see any reason not to make this trip since I am single, female age 76. I know the route is not highly populated so that is the reason for my question and if anyone out there has any thoughts on this, I would appreciate it. I have mapped out a route through AAA with 9 to 10 hours or around 500 miles per day.

Thanks,
