Thats a big factor. Keeping separate clothing and necessities just for the RV = no packing, no suitcases, no schlepping luggage. Checking into an RV park usually takes under 5 minutes. There are no extra charges when you're ready to go so you just drive out. Check-in time at most RV parks is noon, not 3 pm as you find with hotels. They don't have do anything to make up the room.

I think RV parks are very safe places, too. In Florida, I worry more about alligators and bears than bad humans. Last year we went on a Viking Cruise (very nice) but this year we'd be apprehensive about that kind of travel.

One big attraction of RV travel is not paying a pet fee for the dog.

I think many people enjoy the privacy, too. You just don't bump into people much.

In reply to <a href="https://jdawgjourneys.com/2016/03/rv-lifestyle-cost/#comment-1206">Janice</a>.

Hi Janice,
Thanks for reading. When I travel, I keep the holding tanks empty and only carry about 1/3 tank of fresh water. I drive at around 62 mph. I am conscious of the weight that I carry. When I travel, it's mostly just me solo in the RV. Wind can make a big difference. A head wind will knock my mgp down to 14.5. That's about it.

A well written post with a wealth of information. It was to the point, easy to read and just enough detail. I like your idea of an RV you can drive anywhere. After years of researching, that is probably the direction I will go on my next purchase. Thanks for deciding to write about RV costs.
