0301141111Well, it’s getting close to being that time of year again when I climb behind the wheel and turn into Juneless Jim.  It’s what my wife calls this time of year when I leave her behind and head out on a spring road trip.  Late Spring is one of my favorite times of the year to travel. Winter is over the summer crowds won’t start appearing for another 6 weeks.  And, I got all my spring chores done so its a good time to hit the road.

Last year, I spent my Juneless Jim time touring parts of Colorado, Arizona, and Utah on my Four Corners Roadtrip.  My youngest son, Cavin joined me on that trip and it was a special time that we spent together.  Now, we’re about to do it again and hit the road together.

Father and son about to hit the road

This years Juneless Jim road trip has us returning to Colorado.  We really enjoyed Colorado last year and as Merle Haggard sang, it’s “a place where Mother Nature’s got it all together”.

Last year, we went across the state in a couple of places.  We got a good sampling of southern Colorado, but there was so much we didn’t see and it left me wanting to return.  So this time, we’re visiting some new places and will linger longer.  We’re going to explore more small towns, enjoy the wild flowers, gaze at the white-capped Rockies, and suck in lots of thin the air.

Here’s a map of our Colorado route.
