This is just a short post to give a referral for a couple of very good RVing books. I read these recently and have been meaning to pass along a referral. I’m not the type to advertise or plug products, but these are a couple of really good reads that I bought and have read. Given the season, they might be good book gifts for that RVer (or wannabe RVer) in your family.
The first book is Governor’s Travels written by Angus King, a former Governor of Maine. King was Governor from 1995 to 2003. He’s currently serving as one of Maine’s US Senators. When King left the Governor’s office, the first thing he did was take his family on a 5 1/2 month cross country RV trip. Never being an RVer, he bought himself a big Class A rig and did a clockwise tour of the country. He took his kids out of school for the trip. He drove and his wife navigated. In the book, King slowly learns the ropes of RVing and has a very memorable trip with his family. I saw him give a slide presentation on his journey at an RV show in Boston and that prompted me to get his book. It’s a good read following someone along their journey from RV newbie to discoverer.
The second book is The Leisure Seeker. This is an extremely well written book about an elderly couple taking a final RV trip. It’s a poignant fictional story that will make you laugh out load and cry. Its written from the wife’s perspective and its just incredible how the author wrote from an elderly woman’s perspective. I won’t get into any details and spoil it for you. This book was referred to me from a Facebook friend. Both my wife and I loved reading this book.
That’s it for this week. Five more weeks until snowbird lift off!!
