J. Dawg at Navarre |
We just finished up 5 days on the Florida panhandle in Navarre, FL. We had a very restful stay. It was good to take some time to transition from condo living to RV living. The weather was pretty good, but cool with daytime highs in the 60’s and nights in the 40’s. Not really beach weather but it sure beat what was happening back home in New England.
The Emerald Beach RV Park was full with snowbirds from all over. One neighbor was a young couple from Germany where taking a year off from their jobs to travel the world. They were in the middle of spending 6 months traveling the US. They flew into Orlando, bought an RV, and are traveling the country counter clockwise ending up in Toronto, Ontario. Once there, they plan to sell the RV and fly to Hong Kong to begin a 6 month tour of Asia.
Navarre is pretty small, but that’s why it appeals to me. Its about 15 miles east of Pensacola and lies between the big sprawl that is Gulf Breeze and Fort Walton Beach. There’s not much in the town except the usual stores and restaurants. It’s the gateway to Santa Rosa Island and the Gulf Islands National Seashore and the attractions in Pensacola are a short drive away. While at Navarre, we got to do everything we planned.

On Thursday, we head west and continue the journey. The next stop is Breaux Bridge and Eunice, LA to visit to the Cajun Prairie.
