We’ve been spending the past month at San Carlos RV Resort in Fort Myers Beach, FL.  We’re here for two months.  This will be our third year staying at San Carlos and its now become our favorite winter roost.  The RV park is relatively small and is about a mile from Fort Myers Beach.  Its situated right before the large “sky bridge” that goes over to Estero Island.  The location makes it easy to walk or ride a bike to stores, restaurants, and the beach.

There are several RV parks in the nearby area.  San Carlos is nice RV park that caters to snowbirds.  There’s no permanent or transient residents, just retirees escaping the cold and snow for a few months.  RV parks aren’t for everyone.  At San Carlos, the sites are very close together and it can look crowded, but it has a great location and the people who run it are terrific to deal with.  The owners do a great job maintaining the park and they are constantly making improvements

All the sites have full hook-ups.  Cable TV is available on certain sites, but the on air TV reception is excellent.  There’s free wifi, a nice pool, hot tub, laundry, a rec room and regular weekly activities.  It also has a boat launch, marina docks, and kayak rentals.

Here’s a video I put together that shows what the RV park is like. The first segment was taken with my new Panorama G DashCam.  The camera is small, attaches to the windshield with a suction mount, and shoots HD 1080p video.  It has a built in GPS to capture speed and location.  It records in MPEG 4 format to a SD card. A 32GB card can hold about 4.5 hrs of video,  Its very easy to operate and is great to capture those moments when you’re driving and wish you had a camera.  It should come in handy for my future travels this summer.

So far, the weather in January has been very good and we’re enjoying our stay.  Its pretty much been shorts and tee shirt type weather.  The NoSeeUm’s have been a nuisance but that’s been our only complaint.  We’ve met several new people and have seen several returning guests who we’ve met from prior years.

We’ve already signed up to return for next year.  We leave in mid February to go to St Augustine Beach for a couple of weeks and start the next part of our winter sojourn.
